Why did you decide to become a postpartum doula?

I saw how having a lack of support after birth was detrimental to a dear friend of mine. This experience made me question what postpartum support looks like for families and who is there to support them. I found out about postpartum doulas and knew that I wanted to pursue certification. Helping families after the birth of their babies is my passion.

What do you love the most about supporting families in the postpartum period?

I love watching new parents gain confidence in themselves. Seeing them go from unsure, scared or confused to knowing exactly what their babies need is thrilling. I always love pointing out when the parents start telling me what is happening vs. me telling them. This is their baby and they truly do know them best.

Why are you most excited to work at New Kind?

I am so excited to reach even more families with a virtual platform of support. I am also so thankful to be working with a team of wonderful newborn experts that can provide a whole spectrum of specialities to our clients.

Your favorite thing about the work you do?

I get so much satisfaction from seeing my clients take a deep breath and realize that they CAN do this and they are going to make it through.
